American hip hop is light years ahead of other attempts at the genre.
This might not strike interest in some (or most) of the (old) Cellar-folk here (I'm a college youth, bizatch!) but I just wanted to speak my mind. Right now I'm listening to this sick-ass song "Make It Rain (Remix)" by Fat Joe f/T.I., Lil' Wayne, Rick Ross, Ace Mack and R. Kelly. It has one of the sickest hip hop beats I've heard, and definately the best hip hop beat in the short year of 2007 so far.
I know some Britons will argue British hip hop is superior but NOPE! You guys are wrong, and that's not just my Ameri-centric attitude, but if you guys knew the hip hop legends and the kids we've produced in the states and heard some of the actual MUSIC and beats and the edgy progressions that make hip hop so easy to recognize and the enormous variety of sounds and instruments implemented; you'd all know what I'm talkin about. I've also heard Korean attempts at rapping, now I dunno what they are saying, but the music and the beats are VASTLY inferior to anything made Stateside. I mean, they are just plain garbage in the tough genre of hip hop.
Download it, Make it Rain (Remix) and then go ahead and bash on me but whatever, I know my hip hop.
I make it rain, I make it rain on them hoes.
