True! During the half pipe qualifications last night, I saw one of the Americans pull his iPod out of his pocket, fiddle with it, and then start bopping his head around like crazy. I figured he was waiting for his turn to go in the back stage area, but then his coach tapped him on the shoulder, the camera angle changed, and he started his run down the pipe. He had been in the starting gate, playing with his iPod.

mental training is just as important as physical training in athletes, I hear. I'm sure this was part of pysching himself up for his run. Just because they do it differently, doesn't invalidate the method.

Obviously. My point was it's not a method I've seen used in any of the other winter games. Snow boarders are more casual.
