Bank with banks

The other day, a set of YouTube commenters were banned from YouTube and ALSO FROM THEIR ENTIRE GOOGLE ACCOUNTS, for spamming emojis in comments. They were doing that because the YouTuber, in his video, asked them to vote for something, in the comments, using emojis.

Today we learn that Google is entering banking services.

I have your phone, Google, but my money ain't going anywhere near ya.

Cool, so if I need money I don't have to fill out a lot of forms because they already know more about me than I do.

What's the difference from a consumer's perspective?

Fees. Service. Rates. No fees, better service, better rates.

At least the one I use.

Also usually smaller and smarter with loaning out their (our) money--they are far less likely to play the kind of games that led to Lehman Bros. downfall, for example.

I had a smaller bank. They got bought out by a bigger bank.

My bank is so big, that when I sent them a death certificate to close one account and set up an estate account for my deceased cousin, they still keep sending him notices about how he should sign up for a credit card.

Some charity org sent some address labels to guilt me into donating some money. The labels used Grandmadigr's name. She's been gone 14-15 years now.

I sent everything back in their prepaid envelope, with a note saying "I'm quite dead, you know."

:D

Yeah, I am sitting here trying to think of a situation that is more inherently shady than FB or Google banking (FB is apparently launching their own currency).

Sometimes, you just gotta sit back and enjoy the spectacular carnage.

I pay no fees. A get good service (actually they call me up too often asking to do reviews for better service). And have not for well over 20 years. It is a full service bank with branches in many states.

Is it Credit Unions versed full service banks. Or just the nature of some banks (of any type) verses others.

I was amazed at what some others put up with.

There has always been a fundamental difference between Facebook and Google. Googles corporate message has been "do no harm". Facebook has always been about enriching top management. Do everything for profits - only do anything for the customer where it might otherwise harm profits. It don't trust that company - ever. Facebook atttitude is the attitude of Zuckerberg. It has always been a pariah in the Silicon Valley. Very much the exception.

Zuckerberg has said enough that I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw his weird android ass.
