Just found out that the convertible is headed toward a Mars orbit. Can you imagine the newsday nostalgia that we'll all be reliving, when they eventually get enough equipment to Mars to successfully reclaim the car out of orbit and it becomes the first car to drive on the surface?

"Starman" is the name of the mannequin, and they played "Life on Mars" when the Tesla was deployed [David Bowie].
The drone ship landing barges are named "Just Read the Instructions", and "Of Course I Still Love You" [Iain M. Banks' Culture novels].
