Couldn't think of s snappy title for this.
The chinese have finally developed the manufacturing technology to make their own ball point pen tips, so obviously trickier than it seems.

What more surprised me is they make 38 billion a year

When the army tells you to buy its pens, you buy. Another legacy of Tienanmen Square.

How many spies were sent into Bic factories? How many were caught, tortured, and sent to Guantanamo?

Beest's link shows the Chinese are committed to international fair trade, not just increasing export income.

I find it difficult to comprehend that China can build jet fighters, but can't make a pen.

They stole those prints on the internet back in the 2000s.

Bic has superior internet security. They don't use computers. They use pens.

LOL

That's why i posted it, who knew it was so difficult, The Wikipedia Page says the mechanics ( The bit the chinese have just figured out) were patented in 1888, Biro's innovation to make it practical was the ink in 1938

Good.

Actually, it makes me feel a little better about the Chinese as foes.

If they can't build a pen, how good can the fighter be?

Real good if they got the blueprints and stole the source code.

Let's leak the F-35, that'll fix them.

...and ordered the hard-to-make-stuff from overseas. I'm sure they've seen pen blueprints before, too, but they couldn't make them.
