Hand or machine made?

Little Pete spotted this on the ground next to our camp stove. Losing tent stakes is a long and hallowed tradition. All hail the distracted camper! It appears to be made from square wire, twisted, sharpened, hooked, and flattened at the hook. So handmade or machine made? Date?

Judging by the looks of it I would say that it has been in the dirt for 40 or 50 years.

relative size?

I've seen similar square wire and twisted tent pegs, but not flattened.
The wire was about 3/16" and length maybe 8"-10"

Our old family tent when I was a kid has stakes exactly like that, but in aluminum.

That's definitely not a hand.

I guess that's cleared up.
