Web Design - Color Scheme Advice?

Heyo. Been awhile since I've been on The Cellar.

Since I've been gone I've learned a new programming language, Python, I've started some game development, and I've also launched a basic display website for things in the Horror Genre, because I like scary stuff and being scared and all that jazz.

It's fairly barren right now as I work on finding more content, but I'd love some help picking a kind of dark Color Scheme that isn't just "Grey and Darker Grey" because I feel like it clashes a bit too much and can be hard to see for some people.

The site is http://disturbing-stuff.neocities.org/, anyone have any idea what a good color scheme for something spooky like this would be? I'd love some feedback for the colors if possible.

Automatic playing sound! Why, that calls for puke green. :vomit:

Oh dear god, never would I ever put in an automatic playing sound. I'm not that mean! And I hated those when I went to some websites or blogs. Never enjoyable.

I think the most important principle, in any design, is theft. Find a site or sites that do what you want to do. Figure out their basic color scheme and steal it.

The second most important thing to do is to cheat. Use this website:

http://paletton.com/

Apply the base color and you can immediately get the other colors that will work well in different schemes.

I am the web designer! I do all the code myself. But I didn't think about using my blog code hexcolors - I should give that a try actually.

That looks useful! I'll take a look at it! Thanks for the replies guys. I'll see what I come up with from this.
