The Difference Between Infinite and Finite

JBKlyde • Nov 9, 2013 8:27 pm
There is no repetition in any sets finite or infinite. Whether a set is finite or infinite is a matter of "how many" elements are in a set.

Simply put, if a set is finite, you can list the elements in the set and actually finish listing them. A set is infinite if you could never actually finish creating a list of the elements in it.

The natural numbers is an example of an infinite set. You can begin listing them today, say one a second, and never finish, there would always be another to add to the list. The even natural numbers is a subset of the naturals that is also infinite.
sexobon • Nov 10, 2013 11:50 pm
In accordance with the above, the Trinity is a finite set: therefore, God is finite and not infinite or else God would be called the Infinity instead of the Trinity. Thanks for pointing that out.
JBKlyde • Nov 11, 2013 3:59 pm
God exist out side of time.. the TRINITY is a set principle for man to follow until Jesus returns. Therefore God is infinite because mans days are numbered the soul moves on the body is dust and when time ends the trinity will probably be replaced with a different principle.
sexobon • Nov 11, 2013 7:57 pm
If God exists outside of time, then God is finite. An infinite God would exist outside of time and inside of time.

Other creatures have become extinct while man continues to exist. That doesn't mean that man is infinite. Likewise, if man becomes extinct while God continues to exist that doesn't mean that God is infinite.

Jesus is part of the Trinity. If the Trinity will be replaced when time runs out, that means Jesus will be replaced when time runs out. If Jesus can be replaced, then Jesus is not God. Thanks for pointing that out.
JBKlyde • Nov 11, 2013 8:07 pm
Your mistaking "Godly Principles" for "Human Understanding". God exist out side of Time and he can reach in anytime he wants. Lean NOT on your own understanding and stop trying to twist Godly Principles to Fit your Own Understanding.
sexobon • Nov 11, 2013 8:23 pm
Your "human understanding" means that your understanding of Godly principles is no more valid than anyone else's. YOU did the math that proved God is finite. YOU did the math that proved Jesus cannot be God. YOU admitted that your "human understanding" cannot comprehend Godly principles. YOU cast God out of mankind's time. YOU'RE TWISTED. Thanks for pointing that out.
JBKlyde • Nov 11, 2013 8:43 pm
Infinity Means something will Go ON Forever and Ever. God is Jesus The Father and The Holy Spirit all joined together. And that is the Trinity. It is a "Godly Principle" that was set into motion the day Jesus ascend into heaven and released the Holy Spirit. No-one Knows what Heaven is Like except the ones who have been there. If I had any sort of Power to do what you say I probably would be twisted as you say. How can some simple man "cast God out out of Man Kinds Time". Your F'ull of C'rap. Have Faith it works.
sexobon • Nov 11, 2013 9:31 pm
You're the shit for brains who said: "God exist out side of Time and he can reach in anytime he wants." Your God is finite; because, in your mind you cast him out of mankind's time only allowing for visits.

I said: "An infinite God would exist outside of time and inside of time." My God is everywhere (including inside and outside of time), always and forever. My God, the one true God, is infinite.

Faith is something that makes humble people Godly. It's all too often demanded by arrogant shithouse preachers who think they can define God for others. You worship at the alter of Technology which enables you to do this.

REPENT JBKlyde! Your blasphemy is writing checks that your immortal soul can't cash.

A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the
scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back.
The frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?"
The scorpion says, "Because if I do, I will die too."

The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream,
the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of
paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown,
but has just enough time to gasp "Why?"

Replies the scorpion: "Its my nature..."

Dear heathen pothead with nice nipples, :yum:

I wanted to see if he could apply the gist of his opening post to resolve a practical situation; or, if he just plagiarized it. I substituted deities for numbers to see if he could draw the analogy of the Trinity being a subset of an infinite God rather than a finite set. That would have ended the conversation. Instead, he went off on some Time Lord tangent about God being outside of time, wild speculation about the Trinity being replaced at the end of time, and his mental health problematical interpretation of Godly principles. It became obvious that his OP was plagiarized without comprehension (probably how it ended up in the Technology forum) and was just attention whoring. At that point it became fodder for entertainment. If he didn't want to entertain me, he had at least two routes of egress: stop replying to my posts (I would have reciprocated) and put me on ignore (his loss). He exercised free will in HIS choice to remain engaged and if you don't think he has the right to self determination, talk to UT about restricting him to a children's forum. I don't see where anyone else has a mouth except maybe, perhaps, if they actually gave a rats ass about him, to clue him in that if you don't want to get stung ... you don't play with scorpions. Throughout history scorpions have represented both good and evil: I'm just a mirror.

I once saw god claim he could pull a rabbit out of his hat. Unfortunately it was a wrong hat.

You probably know him. His name is Bull. His uncle is Rip Van Winkle.

By performing two more tricks, then the church will make him a Saint. If he also accidentally becomes Pope, then the Church will expedite his canonization

Where does one buy clothing and equipment to become a Saint? I'd ask god. But gods do not talk. They are too almighty to answer questions from us or the press.

I suppose if you really did care about God or anyone at all and not just complicating others and satisfying your own agenda you would realize God is eternal which ever way you look at it and not just some pointless workman defeated in his plans... if you really cared you would work together for the better good to prove God as being a divine being that is beyond the understanding of all of us.. but apparently you don't care or else you would be more focused on proving God right and not reducing him to a stupid argument in the spectacle of the public...

Whether or not another person can 'handle it' is separate from your choice to be a dick. It's possible to be a dick to a Turing machine, too.

Also, just so you know, infinite sets are countable, and thus a trinity does not have to be a subset of the infinite.

You say the above; but, after all the effort I put into keeping it within the realm of the opening post, trying to ensure that the other person can "handle it," then you seem to want to fault me for not expanding into aleph numbers by saying -

Clodfobble;883402 wrote:

Also, just so you know, THE Trinity = God so they exist in aleph-naught which is infinite and in which every finite set has a maximum and finite unions of finite sets are finite. The key is to recognize that THE Trinity is not a union of sets finite or infinite; rather, it is an expression of infinity's relationship to a specific finite subset. This is evidenced by the fact that THE Trinity consists of God the Father who is infinite, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit (the luv duv) in which both of the latter are dependent on the first for existence. If you take away God the Father, you don't have the other two. If you isolate the Son, the Holy Spirit, and the Father as separate infinite sets that are countable, you then define them. If you think you can define God ... that's not God. The purpose of having THE Trinity is to preserve the mystery of God.
