Wait, veins aren't that big?
Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing.

I think it's more of a temperature differential thing, maybe? So the veins are heating the area around them just a smidge as well.

Is it to assist phlebotomists?

Phlebotomists love me. My veins are HUGE. They look at the ones in the crook of my elbow and almost have to stifle a 'YAY!' Yeah, my veins are weirdly, freakishly large.

So I have that going for me.

I bet you think this song is about you, don't you?

It should be. I'm wearing my apricot scarf to cover all my gigantic-ass veins.

What's so hard about finding them...

Drive out in the country and most every barn has at least one,
and they are almost always on the top.

I have a new left-handed vein finder. Not from Reddit, but from Bass Pro Shops.

I can see all the veins on my hands.
Well, maybe not the tiddlers.
If'n I hold my fingers up in normal torchlight (flashlight) I can see enough to make myself feel queasy.

I can also see my pulse in both wrists, pumping away.
Translucent skin? I got it.

Was doing a design that requires light detection. Blocking light with a hand resulted in no light obstruction. Because some parts of a hand conduct some light frequencies.

A few Japanese electronic companies make biological security detection equipment for ATMs. One view the entire palm. Another views fingers. Each looks at veins. Because veins obstruct many light frequencies that easily pass through other parts of a hand.

Chop the hand off. Then veins are no longer useful for logging into an ATM.
