Mostly it is just about the period of a given pendulum being a function of it's length, but invariant over the amplitude of the swing, appropriately iterated over monotonically increasing lengths.
I think I see the "period three implies chaos" law at work here too.
If this doesn't lure Pie back, nothing will.
