Flash drive lifespan?

Ever worry about that thumbdrive wearing out?
Wonder if you'll suddenly be left with a paper weight?
How many times can you rewrite that flash drive?

Would you believe 90.5 million? YMMV ;)

Damn it. My master plan required rewriting flash drives 90.6 million times!

Back to the drawing board.

oh yay.

I wonder if they work as permanent storage too.

I would not have guess a flash drive to be so durable.

Wow.

I never even thought about it. But seriously, I doubt the average user's gonna get to 90 million rewrites before....well, you know.

the size of the drive is obsolete?

Did they factor in the ones that are at the bottom of my purse, or in a pile by my computer?

My god I'm going to last forever (flash drive-wise) so I hope you like the Commander Keen series and Duke 1 and 2.

No, I mean B4 the user...ya' know...passes.

I knew what you meant. My point is that the drive is going to get maybe 200 rewrites from an average user before they retire it because it's too small for the new larger file sizes they will be working with. I'm guessing with that number, but I bet, if anything, I'm overestimating. It's probably closer to 50 rewrites for an average user.

There are no moving parts. You can get drives like this in bigger versions, too, but they are still quite expensive.

I know they can be washed and dried a few times

I've known a few that just died though, we have one that has halved it's useable space.

yebbut you know that all bets are off on anything electronic that comes within twenty feet of me. I get a mention in the small print in most warranties.

You'd've gotten away with it too, if it hadn't've been for those meddlin' kids.
