digital channels

We have a television with its own digital tuner, hooked up to cable. Recently, some of the cable channels went to digital signal, so I changed the tv to digital tuning. The channels are all different, now. For example, broadcast (air) channel 3 is now channel 3.1. Comedy Central is something like 83.4. I've Googled for a channel listing, but can't find one. Anyone have any ideas?

your locale provider should be able give you a listing

Or if you have trouble getting one, you could make your own by seeing what's on the different channels.

Those are over-the-air digital channel types. You want cable high-def channel types. The TV may have another setting which is more appropriate for your setup.

For the over-the-air listings, try tvguide.com. Check with your cable company, you may still need to use their box.

My local provider / cable compnay was no help and my TV is not HD. :sniff: I'd like to avoid going through every channel, figuring out what it is, and writing them down, but that might be the only answer.:thepain:

Why would the cable company not know what stations they put on each channel? I get that information even in the sales propaganda that arrives in the junk mail.

Those receiving HD from the broadcast antennas have seen confusion that is masked by technology. For example, channel 3 may now be broadcasting on channel 46. IOW it moved from 55 Mhz to 550 Mhz (numbers are ballpark). Some stations that did not do that change are now missing audience that cannot get TV reception on those lower frequencies.

What channel is your station on? Even if channel 3 is now on channel 46, your electronics describes it as channel 3. And if Channel 3 is not broadcasting in HD, it may broadcast three stations: 3-1, 3-2, and 3-3.

Upon plugging in our new TV a couple of months we had mcuh the same thing, 200 ish channels were found, and numbered in an odd channel with sub number format. Interesting that's the antenna format I'm trying to figure out how to change it.

Yes i did sit and go through all 200 and write them down, to find the number s of about 5 I might possible be interested in. :eek:
