Whenever I have problem like this and I can't get to go away, I reformatt my hard drive and reinstall windows. Works like a charm! Gets rid of the spyware simulltaneously.

does anybody think windows will ever be completely bug-free?

That works, but when you haven't made a backup for a few weeks, boy it sucks.
