McNabb is a Redskin

Quote:
Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb was reportedly traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Washington Redskins on the evening of Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010. While the deal was not immediately finalized, the Redskins would give the Eagles a second-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and a third- or fourth-round pick in 2011.

McNabb had been the subject of trade rumors for some time before the transaction as his contract, which includes a $6.2 million roster bonus on May 5, 2010, expires after the upcoming season. The Eagles will reportedly turn to quarterback Kevin Kolb for the 2010 season, with fellow quarterback Michael Vick as their first backup.
Why to a division rival? Why on Easter? What the heck just happened?
lol - I'm happy. . . for the moment.

Youth movement begins today. The birds have 5 of the first 87 picks in the draft, and now they have McNabb's big salary open for the free agent market. Gonna be a lot of moves coming up.

Kolb / Vick is not a useful option. Would you guys like a slightly used rapist?

I can't believe they're giving Donovan a chance to beat them twice a year.

Donovan needs a good offensive line in order to be a great QB. The Redskins don't have that. They're a chaotic team, led by the league's worst owner and a rotating head coach spot. They were supposed to be rebuilding and here they are bringing in a 37-year-old QB in the last year of his contract and giving up an early 2nd round pick.

Donovan needs fast wr's to throw to to demonstrate his arm...the redskins have some of the fastest legs in the game.
Pass protection is a much easier task than assisting the rush.
I think its a great move for the redskins.
Phillie had to lose McNabb as UT points out.
Draft building is key in a succesfull franchise.
I truly wonder what the eagles are planning for at QB over the next 5 years.
There is no doubt that 1 of these picks over the next two drafts is going to a QB.
If I ran the Eagles, there are a few more players i would consider getting rid of, given the moves that have already been made.

There have been a few moves over this off season that have been of greater value than this one.

He beat the Eagles 5 times, last year.

Kolb might be fine. Last year he became the first QB in NFL history to debut with two 300-yard games.

He usually throws more towards the feet though...

Not the long ball - thats always been his strength. Reid tried to make McNabb run the West Coast offense with short, accurate passes requiring a lot of touch and precision. That was certainly not his strong suit.
Put into a system with wideouts that can fly and a coach that will run the offense to open those types of downfield plays will be a better fit for him.

He'll also be welcomed as the hero type savior by the skins players. That will give his fragile ego a much needed boost.

I don't know about that. He over/underthrew Jackson more than a few times this past season. Even the "miracle throw" to Maclin was really an overthrow to Avant.
