She held onto her seat. Not only that, but after only one term, she is angling for a seat on the Ways and Means committee.

WASHINGTON - Rep. Michele Bachmann, who survived an October gaffe to win re-election, is hoping to snag a seat next year on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, which sets policy on taxes and other important issues.

It's a long-shot bid for someone just entering her second term in Congress. But lawmakers do try to get members from all regions on the panel, and Minnesota is losing its sole voice on the committee with Republican Jim Ramstad retiring. Bachmann currently serves on the Financial Services Committee.
The freshman Republican had jeopardized her re-election last month when she said that Barack Obama "may have anti-American views," but Bachmann survived by pulling out a 3-percentage-point win in the 6th District race.

Won't that be cozy. Her working with all of the majority 'anti-American' Democrats on one of the most powerful committees in Congress.
