I need something from Texas, Flint. (coffee thread)

You're in Cowboys Country, I believe.

Up here, in the Dunkin Donuts, they have DD cards that have Eagles logos all over them.

I want a Cowboys one. Send me one. Hurry up before they're gone.

and for the rest of you, this is a thread about your coffee budget.

Now lets talk about how much coffee we drink and how much we spend on it. The reason I want a DD card is because you can recharge them and re use them. I'd like to see what jinx and I spend in a month at Dunkin Donuts.

I'm afraid to say how much i think we spend on coffee and lattes.....

So get an Eagles one. That will fulfill your purpose!

$50 will take care of my coffee needs for about 2.5 months. I order from a place that gives free shipping for $50 orders so I usually get $50 or so at a time. I have a "pod" style coffee maker at home and one at work. I usually have a cup first thing in the morning and 1 or 2 the rest of the day.

That doesn't include the cost of half-and-half... call that another $1.something every couple weeks. I

I'm using about a pound every two weeks. On top of that, I hit DD maybe once a week unless we're traveling. Goat milk shifted the cream expense over to the farm balance sheet...

You can recharge Starbucks' cards, too. Of course, lattes and such there are much more expensive.

The other day we had a client (a middle-aged businessman) who we offered to get coffee, as we were on a run to Starbucks. He said, "what's a latte?" My jaw about hit the ground. How can you not know what a latte is, in this day and age?

Talk about your coffee money: David Bach talks about the "latte factor." I.e., how those little untracked expenses can add up and screw your budget. And how being conscious of that, and saving that money instead, can add up quickly.

i figure about $6/day on coffee.

i stop every morning at the gas station on the corner here for my tall machine made "french vanilla capacino". it isn't really any of those three things, but it's yummy. more importantly i stop and chat with a couple of old timers that hang out there BS'ing the morning away.

during the day i drink some gourmet mix of the day from the cafe that is part of my building lease agreement. that's in my rent so i'll pretend that there is no cost associated with it.

in the late afternoon i alternate days with Starbucks Java Chip, or a local specialty shop. Again, the drink is nice, but the real point is to chat with the regulars at each place. You wouldn't believe how many people are willing to talk about their money after chit chatting over coffee a couple of times.

I'm not a coffee connoisseur. I zap some instant in the microwave for a morning caffeine kick, but thats usually about it. I have enough trouble sleeping as it is. It costs maybe 20 cents a day.

I grew tired of snobby waiters in coffee shops, so sometimes I like to mess with them. I have ordered, at various times, a short white, a black cappuccino, and an espresso with milk. No-one invites me to coffee shops anymore.

Well we used to be friends Zen.....This about closes us out!

Good coffee is the only real standard I base my friendships on!!

But I can still agree about little snot coffee house staff...I only go to one place in town now, because they are friendly and remember my name, and give me free coffee sometimes. (the last place I regulared the coffee snot started to snatch the dollars out of my hand and give me crusty looks) wtf?

Coffee buying is not a heavy point of negotiation!

so...do they even HAVE Dunkin Donuts in Texas? I don't see any on the store locator. And i notice that the Eagles cards are a promo for the 75th anniversary of the franchise.

I fear that I may have to custom create one.

Say ... did you see the description of the Tim Tam Slam we had a while back?

That goes better with coffee. Some use tea though, and Ali likes cold milk.

I'm pretty certain there's one a few miles from me (and it's the ONLY one I've ever seen in Texas...) I'll see if I can stop by and check about the card for you.

Edit: Scratch that. I just called them. They don't get the Cowboys-branded cards because it turns out they are the only Dunkin Donuts in Texas, so it's not worth it to print them. The guy suggested you make your own online.
