Utopia: Can or should it exist?

I've heard the phrases - "Utopia doesn't exist." or "In a perfect world. . . . . "

Is this something we should individually and collectively be working toward or is it truly just a pipe dream - something that has absolutely no chance of happening? thoughts? opinions?

It can't happen because everyone has a different idea about what Utopia is.

I'm pretty certain my idea of a perfect world would be far different from the perfect world someone like ummm...let's say LJ might dream of.

The trouble with utopian visions is that they have a tendency to demand uniformity. that's the sort of thinking that led to eugenics.

Not starting shit. Just making an example from our vastly different views on the way the world should be run.

edit: I could have used many others also, such as Maggie, UG, 9th etc.

Don't be paranoid.

Do you have opposite political to views or me or not? If not, then I retract my statement.

If so, either respond to the question or stop trying to start shit.

That's all there is to it.

First of all, the word utopia itself means that it cannot exist.

u=not + topia=society. utopia=A society that doesn't exist

A Eutopia is a society that is in perfect harmony but the Greek's realized that a perfect society is impossible, so they used utopia and it caught on.

Read "Brave New World" or "1984" for a good view on a dystopia, or a eutopia gone wrong.
