What Chocolate Aspires to Be...

I just wanted to say that Petit Tresors Belgian Cocoa Dusted Truffles are basically the food equivalent of sex. They should be illegal. I estimate my blood sugar to be at about 8,000 right now after eating three of these.

They come from Sam's Club and are but $10 for a one-kilo box containing two 1/2 kilo bags of obscene, melt in your mouth, unparalleled for the price decadence. Get some, eat them, want for nothing again as long as you live...or until they run out.

You buy chocolate...from ebay?
I never would have considered looking on ebay for chocolate goods.

They look delicious. They also look like they could up one's clothes size just by lookin at them.

Sounds a bit like the sort of experience you can get from Baskin-Robbins' Double Dutch Chocolate Fudge ice cream, a seasonal flavor spoken of in whispers by veteran Baskin-Robbins countermen.

I haven't seen it in a couple decades, but BR employees tell me they've seen it around.

The stuff is as near to opium as I've ever come.

Lindt Lindor Truffles are now available in extra dark chocolate.

Hopefully I will not be able to find them in stores very often.

Cocoa originated in Mexico, where the beans also served as money. This caused all kinds of problems for the Spanish conquerors, because they couldn't understand why the indians kept bringing them baskets of the stuff when all they wanted was gold.

Eventually, the monopoly on the processed chocolate ended up in Belgium (along with just about all the gold and other valuables shipped to Spain from the New World; this was because the Low Countries were the willing purveyors of the luxuries which the Spaniards bought with their ill-gotten tribute). It was just as well, because in Mexico it was mixed with water since dairy products were unknown and neither was sugar. In fact, they added CHILE to it for an extra kick. Modern chocoholics would not be very interested in the original recipes, and likewise the early Mexicans would have gagged on a truffle

I buy them at Sam's Club, the Warehouse Store outlet of WalMart...or should I say that the guy with whom I work bought them there, and gave them to me.

I like chocolate. Any kind really. When people go overseas and ask me what I want, I say chocolate.

It's how I maintain my womanly figure.

Elspode, the ones that you are referring to are sooo good. I've never had that brand, but have had something similar and they are absolutely lovely. One was about enought for me - they had the best chocolate flavor. The ones that I purchased came in a truffle basket - like the ones that they gather the fungal variety in. A very cute presentation.

They are ridiculously rich, verging on obscenely so. We still haven't gone through the first of the two 1.1# bags of them yet, and I've had them for a week, with up to a dozen people having access to them.

Not only are they fabulously delicious, but they are a great chocolate value at around $5 per #, mainly because you can't eat enough at one time to whittle them away at a very fast clip. You'd die of diabetic shock, even if you didn't have diabetes. Your pancreas would simply surrender.

Chocolate equates with sex? Yeah, sometimes.
