saunders pitched pretty well out there as the angels won 9-1.
worthy of mentioning are the 3 home runs hunter hit in the game.

toronto blue jays vs florida marlins
tallet - johnson

sweep sweep sweep.
poor torontonians.
its like tossing a blue jay off the cn tower with a ball and chain wrapped around its legs, and then watching it trying to fly.
nothing can stop the blue jays from hitting the bottom.

bet on the florida marlins

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

la angels vs san diego padres

weaver - young

jered weaver is the real deal.
all you need to do is watch this guy and you'll understand.

bet on the la angels

clevland indians vs st.louis cardinals
lee - carpenter

chris carpenter leads all the major leagues with his 1.23 era.
and to think his velocity still has room to grow.

bet on the st.louis cardinals

the marlins completed the sweep, beating up the blue jays 11-3.
lee outpitched carpenter for a 3-0 win.
jered weaver pitched a complete game shut out as the angels won 6-0.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

philadelphia phillies vs toronto blue jays
hamels - romero

this will be the blue jays 5th loss in a row.
it'll be their 18th loss in their past 25 games.
the worst in the major leagues in that span.
the problem is...its gonna get worse.
to no suprise of course, as they are the worst team in the majors.

bet on the philadelphia phillies

the free-falling blue jay, with the ball and chain around its leg, hit the wall, limiting the speed of its fall, but there's still a ways to go.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

colorado rockies vs tampa bay rays
cook - price

i must admit that i'm a fan of this 23 year old pitcher price.
a fear one would have at placing their money on him, is that he's on a pitch count, and will not pitch further than the 7th inning.
the rays bullpen remains elite, while their bats are out of this world.
i've been going on about how their first 4 bats are the best in the majors... upton, craford, longoria and pena.
funny thing is, number 5 and 6 are zorbist and bartlett, who are batting .318 and .376.
the team is young, and their farm system is top of the line.
the yankees and red sox are still gonna need to do some work to compete against this superior rays team.

bet on the tampa bay rays

kansas city royals vs arizona diamondbacks
hochevar - haren

kansas city will be in a pennant race pretty soon.
the royals have a young team with a very rich farm system.
hochevar is probably gonna end up being the royals best starter.
haren is not as impressive as his numbers might seem.
this game pays pretty well.

bet on the kansas city royals

ok, we got a couple losses there, but we still maintain one of the highest percentages on the net in this baseball season.
i've got a long weekend of work, so i'll post a few picks running through sunday......

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
friday

la angels vs la dodgers
saunders - billingsley

two great pitchers go head to head in this la clash.
the angels line-up is superior to the dodgers who are still without manny.

bet on the la angels
bet on the under

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
saturday

kansas city royals vs st.louis cardinals
bannister - carpenter

carpenter is the best starter in the game.
the only thing holding the cardinals back is their weak line-up.

bet on the st.louis cardinals
bet on the under

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

la angels vs la dodgers
weaver - weaver

there is no comparing these two weaver's.
jered, at this time, is certainly one of the top 5 starters in the game, possibly top 3.

bet on the la angels

boston red sox vs atlanta braves

wakefield - jurrjens

jurrjens should dominate this line-up, while the braves could very well beat this knuckle-baller up.

ny mets vs st.louis cardinals
hernandez - pineiro

how the hell are the cardinals the favorites here?
it makes no sense.
could it be because reyes and delgado are not in the line-up?
even without them, the mets line-up is by far superior.
neither of the starters stand out, and they're playing in ny for the pink unicorn's sake.

bet on the new york mets

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

tampa bay rays vs philadelphia phillies
moyer - price

i can go on and on about price, but the out-most here is moyer.
there are 12 year olds that throw a harder fast ball than this guy.
moyer does not look good at all out there, maybe its about time he moved on to golf.

bet on the tampa bay rays

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

oakland a's vs san fransisco giants

mazzaro - lincecum

you need to jump all over this price on lincecum's start.
you're not gonna find it so high again against such a weak team.

the rockies run is no suprise to me, as i called them for 2nd place behind the dodgers at the start of the season.

toronto blue jays vs tampa bay rays
halladay - niemann

bottom of the first, bases loaded, nobody out, pena at bat with a 3-2 count ....is it a walk or a grand slam.....

for the rest of this season, these two teams will face each other more than any other two teams in baseball.

bet on the tampa bay rays

la dodgers vs colorado rockies
wolf - jimenez

the dodgers are around .500 at home in their past 25 games.
funny how all those home games were only paying out 1.25-1.30.
are they missing the fact that manny is not yet back.
do the math, bet against the dodgers at this time.
ubaldo jimenez is the superior pitcher here.

by the way, the rockies over their last 22 games are 19-3

bet on the colorado rockies

halladay's 10-1 record might be decieving to the eyes.
fact....the blue jays are 2 - 3 in the past 5 that halladay has started.
in addition, this is halladay's first game off injury.
the elite pitchers of the major leagues are under .500 while coming off an injury.

when the blue jays were in 1st place in the major leagues, and all the silly media was going on about the jays being a world series team, i began making some pretty extreme posts about the reality behind the blue jays as a team.
where a team is in the standings, does not always indicate how good a team is.
form plays a big part of that early on in a season.
teams that are truly in contention, become in form later in the season, and even more so near play-off time..
its the smaller, weaker teams that have to be in form when everyone good is out of form to get some wins.
the blue jays are that weaker team with no light in sight.

the rays on the other hand, are the elite, getting in form slowly like the yankees, to compete for this pennant race.

i keep hearing people talking about the rays as if winning the division was a fluke.
lets take a closer look at these rays....
they are without any doubt, the fastest team in baseball.

bj upton 24 yrs 28 stolen bases, elite lead off man
carl crawford 28 yrs .316 average, leads the major leagues with an incredible 39 stolen bases already.
evan longoria 23 yrs 2nd in rbi's in the american league, .306 average, 16 home runs.... one of the greatest baseball players of our time.
carlos pena 31 yrs leads the american league with 23 home runs
bartlett 29 yrs .364 average, and all round player with speed and pop

scott kazmir 25 yrs career numbers .385 era 823 strike outs in 773.2 innings pitched... he is who he is and can only get better.

james shields 27 yrs .341 era, some consider him to be the rays best starter... he's good, but the rays hold some serious pitchers.

david price 23 yrs so far in the major leagues, he's got a 3.38 era, but expect that to improve with time.
without doubt, he is the rays elite.... time will show that.
expect his strike-out ratio to out numbers his innings pitched, he's that dominating.

jeff niemann 25 yrs solid starter making a claim in the world series rays rotation.

matt garza 25 yrs 361 era, pitching well of late

jp howell 26 yrs 1.67 era the rays closer has not given up a run since becoming tampa bay's closer... 46 k's in 37.2 innings

wheeler, balfour, bradford
and choate make this bullpen one of the strongest in the majors [not to compare with the mets or red sox pens]

chris carpenter leads the major leagues with his 1.78 era, he also leads the major leagues with his 0.70 whip.
numbers don't always tell the truth, but in this case it does.
if you haven't seen him this season, i suggest that find a way to watch this guy right now, its some of the best you'll ever see.

here we have a division with 3 of the absolute greatest teams in baseball, and two of the absolute worst ones.

tampa bay has not only caught up to the yankees and bosox, but it seems like they have surpassed them.
these young players will only get better each year that passes.
the rays set the perfect example of a great team, finishing in last place in order to get even better the next year.
we can now look at the bottom of the table and distinguish the difference between a team finishing in last place cause they suck, and a team finishing in last place because they're elite, and want to get even better.

the yankees have responded to that reality by upgrading their pitching staff so that it is now elite.
their bats are top of the line.
the only weak link in the yankees appear to be their bullpen.

now matter how much i'd like to bash the red-sox, i can't really do that as they are not too far behind these two giants.
boston pitching staff is not bad all the way through.
their bullpen is very impressive.
its their line-up that places them behind these other two great teams, and 3rd place in the division seems unavoidable.

the orioles and blue jays are in a whole different category.
what can they do really but rebuild and hope that they can compete sometime in the next decade.

AL EAST

this is actually a very good bet based on reality.
it may seem weird betting on two contenders in a 5 horse race.
it is a sure bet as you can discount the orioles and blue jays as they are in a race of there own for last place.
the red sox are truly inferior to both of these teams.
5 units bet on the NYY at 2.10, and 2 units on the Rays at 5.00,
overall, the payout is 10-10.5 on 7 wagered
if you wish to pick 1 of the two bets, fine, but this is free money if you wager as i suggest.

Bet On the NY Yankees
Bet On the Tampa Bay Rays
current standings

1]boston red sox -
2]ny yankees -3.0
3]tampa bay rays -5.0
4]toronto blue jays -6.0
5]baltimore orioles -12.0

this division has gotten weaker.
i bet you, if you take last years standings and turn it upside down, you'll pretty much have the final standings of this season.

wtf are they doing in chicago?
who will be their number 4 and 5 pitchers?
their line-up is as weak as its been for a long time.
the only thing improved here is their bullpen.
the white sox are not going anywhere this year.

i can respect the twins in some of their most recent choices.
they know how to run a pitching staff.. its not that bad.
their amazing in recent years bullpen has fallen apart.
their line-up, despite having a few absolute elite players, is under par.
this division is weak, so i won't be suprised if any team takes it.
its just that the twins seem to be a 500 team.

the indians can be com-petitive this year.
their pitching staff is clearly the elite in this division.
their bullpen remains as questionable as it always has been.
the line-up is full of questions and does have some holes in it, so i can't put my faith in this team as of now.

the royals are finally a competitive team.
due to the rest of the teams in this division generally looking weaker, the royals actually have a shot at winning this division.

the detroit tigers despite finishing in last place last season should be considered the favorites here.
line-up, pitching staff and bullpen, overall are superior to the rest of the teams here.

AL CENTRAL

this division is pretty much up in the air.
detroit is a major contender at 4.00.

Bet On the Detroit Tigers
current standings

1]detroit tigers -
2]minnesota twins -4
3]chicago white sox -5
4]kansas city royals -9
5]clevland indians -12

Quote:
west

the gap between the angels and the rest of the teams in this division has closed a little bit.
seattle's amazing pitching staff can almost compare to the angels.
oaklands line-up has improved considerably since last season.
texas still has some holes to fill, and even if they fill them up, their pitching staff is very weak.
overall, its the angels division to lose.

AL WEST

this is not about me being a fan of this team.
they still are superior to the rest of the teams here. 1.44

Bet On the LA Angels
current standings

1]la angels -
2]texas rangers -1.5
3]seattle mariners -3
4]oakland a's -10.5

Quote:
east

we can fight about this all you want, but the fact is, the mets are the best team here.
thier pitching staff and bullpen are in a standard of their own, while their line-up cannot be matched.
the phillies, despite having the greatest infield in baseball, have a weak bullpen.
florida remains a pretty good team with an above average bullpen.
the line-up does not impress leaving the marlins behind the two greater teams in this division.

this is a bounce back year for atlanta.
i like their pitching staff, and they've got the 8th and 9th inning pretty much covered.
its their line-up that is impressing me, they've made some key moves, they will score this year.

washington isn't all that bad, they've improved, and i believe they'll cause a few upsets this year.

NL EAST

pretty good price on the mets at 2.25.
lets make it back for last season.

Bet On the NY Mets
current standings

1]philadelphia phillies -
2]ny mets -2.5
3]florida marlins -3
4]atlanta braves -5
5]washington nationals -17

Quote:

this division is going to be the main attraction this season as there are a few teams that have improved dramatically.

the chicago cubs appear to be world series bound as their team is too good.
the pitching staff could not be better than it is.
their bullpen is missing nothing, and their bats include soto, lee, soriano and ramirez.

the milwakee brewers are seriously on the downfall as they have become weaker, where the teams below them have surpassed them.
don't be betting on this team.

i like houston, i don't know when they'll be competitive again, it does not look good again this year.

chris carpenter is back to an overall mediocre cardinals team, who may just manage to compete a bit here.

the cincinatti reds are probably gonna be the most improved team in baseball.
volquez is of the absolute elite pitchers in the game.
arroyo and harang can both win.
cueto and bailey are up and coming.
they hold one of the absolute elite closers in the game f.cordero.
their bullpen can certainly pick them up with weathers picking up the 8th inning.
some would say that their bats aren't that good, but i can argue that by comparing it to the rest of teams in this division [minus the cubs]

there's nothing i can say about the pirates that can alter the opinion already bombarded by the media.
they're not that far off.

NLCENTRAL

the cubs pay 1.57, but the low price is justified as this team is way too good.
the reds could be the main contender for 2nd place therefore a very smal cover is affordable at 11.00.

Bet On the Chicago Cubs
Bet On the Cincinnati Red
s
current standings

1]st.louis cardinals -
2]milwaukee brewers -
3]cincinnati reds -2.5
4]chicago cubs -3.5
5]pittsburgh pirates -5

Quote:
west

you can fight with me about this all you want, but the dodgers are gonna win this division.
arizona's line-up is not good enough.
those of you who will argue about the giants are crazy.
lincecum is great, but there's not much else there.
the padres amazing bullpen is not all that amazing anymore.

NL WEST

this is a very good bet as the dodgers pay 2.37.
i see the rockies as their main opponent this year, and they pay 8.50

Bet On the LA Dodgers
current standings

1]la dodgers -
2]san fransisco giants -7
3]colorado rockies -7.5
4]san diego padres -14
5]arizona diamond backs -18

halladay grants the jays their 4th loss in the last 6 games halladay has started in... he's not really helping much, is he, lol.

lincecum pitched a complete game shut-out, allowing the cardinals only 2 hits in the entire game.

it took the dodgers 13 innings to pick up the win against the rockies.

we've still got carpenter win againts the giants for tonight, this is for tommorow wednesday........

toronto blue jays vs tampa bay rays
romero - shields

there is no comparing these two teams, they are leagues apart.
romero is about the only starter worth mentioning from the rest of the blue jays rotation.
if i ran the rays, i'd start resting up some players when playing such a weak opponent as the jays.
even if they do, they're still, by far, the superior team.

bet on the tampa bay rays

wimbeldon - womens semi-finals

dinara safina vs venus williams
elena dementieva vs serena williams

every single media person involved in this wimbeldon is giving a williams sister final as a sure thing.
the truth about the williams sisters is that they're not really that good.
they're both borderline top 10 players.
the only thing that gives them the edge is their physical strength, which at this grand slam, has value, due to the surface that they play on.
the poor english, who really see a false reality every year.

i've been watching womens tennis with a passion since i was 4.
having watched this wimbeldon closely, i can tell you that dementieva should beat serena.
the other semi is kind of up in the air.... i like safina's game, but venus is playing at a very high level.. it will be interesting to watch.

this is a betting thread, and both these matches pay a fortune going against the sisters.

bet on dementieva
bet on safina

texas rangers vs tampa bay rays
hunter - kazmir

kazmir has struggled through injury this season, but he's back it looks like.
he is one of the absolute elite pitchers in the game.
at the end of this season, you can take another look at his stats and you'll see what i mean.
of course it helps that he plays for probably the best baseball team in the majors.

bet on the tampa bay rays
