I often avoid a lot of threads in which I would otherwise post passionately. That's why my post count is so low. I can't afford to get worked up and post what I really think. I just don't have that many hours in a day.

I don't remember a recent abortion thread but I was talking about Israel vs. Palestine.

I like Shawnee. I know she has a temper - she's admitted it herself - and she sometimes goes off like a bomb. But I like her honesty, her sense of humour, her heart and her ability to laugh at herself.

She does seem to be dealing with a lot in her personal life, and although people say you shouldn't bring that onto the board, we all post as real people, not as professional representatives. Given that she has recently posted about the extreme pressure in her job and also issues with her medication I for one am willing to assume that played a part in her outburst. After all, she doesn't regularly post on gun control.

I think Shawnee asked to be banned because she knew she'd lost it big time and wanted to burn her bridges so she wouldn't be tempted to come back - coming back would involve facing up to what she'd said and also seeing what other people said in return. However I think the one thing Shawnee has is courage and personal integrity, and even if she doesn't come back to post I think at least she'll read this thread so that she makes her decisions with her eyes open. I for one will welcome her back.

That said, I do not condone the insults. To bring herself down to the level of making comments about Wolf's appearance is something that disappointed me and Wolf deserves an apology. The rest was general if unpleasant name-calling, although it wasn't on a level I was comfortable with.

At least she chose the right three people - in that it will be water off a duck's back to the three specifically insulted. None of you (them) are likely to worry for a minute about Shawnee's opinion of you, whereas she probably stressed herself sick once she'd calmed down. That's me projecting of course, but I doubt she just shrugged it off.

It's sad this happened - perhaps another victim of the April effect? The month I mean (as previously mentioned) not the banned poster.

Hey, that's a good post Sundae Girl, and I think I agree with every part of it. Well said.

you're not supposed to bring your personal life to the board? (confused). Am I missing something?

Did anyone say that?

Edit: Oh, never mind. I see. I don't think she meant it that way. I think she meant that you shouldn't take your frustrations out on the wrong people.

Damnit, I don't come down the Cellar steps for a few days and all hell breaks loose whilst I'm gone. Has someone been spiking the wine down here?

Sundae that sounds a reasonable assessment of the situ to me.

I think I did something wrong too when I was gone because twice now I received a message saying my IP was banned by the administrator but it goes away a few minutes later.

Sorry - I didn't make it clear. I meant that there is a feeling that you shouldn't allow problems in your personal life to affect the way you deal with people here.

There people on the anti-gun side of that issue who post with the same vitriol. Neither contributes to the crux of the issue.

Yeah, but the gun owners can just shoot them. Problem solved. :p

Damn. I'm out of the loop too much lately. I feel like a foreigner these days. No access at work, and home life is too busy to do a proper job of being a Cellarite. I suck.

I am a Shawnee fan, too. I'm also a Wolf and Zippy fan, damn it. In fact, Wolf and Zippy are two of my best Cellar pals. I'm so conflicted.

I miss you guys.
