Honey if you find your way up to the frigid north one of these days believe me, i'd show you a hell of a time.
I like the old haircut there! im just not sure my hair is thick enough. It's super-thin. On the other hand, i'm not sure WHAT i can do with it, and if I think I can pull that off i'd love to try it. It's a little bit pixie, a little bit mod, and the long side-swept bangs work much better than a short fringe (for me at least, i bet you could pull off the fringe). It's definitely on my list of maybes if i have any input in the haircut at all!

MTP I forgot how cute you used to be.
Mostly because I just concentrate on how cute you are now Ibs - you might want to think about hair extensions. Not to lengthen, but you can get them just to "fill out" or thicken your hair. I've had them twice to lengthen my hair and they are a pain to take care of, but it's all about how important your image is to you. Turns out mine wasn't... I pulled one set out myself in the end. I wasn't in a good place though. They're expensive to get and maintain, but if you find a local hairdressing college or a place that needs to train staff then the cost will shrink dramatically. I know what you've said before about hating to expose your fledgling self to strangers. But do try to close your eyes and step off the board. Hairdressers in general are a sympathetic bunch. And surely more open-minded in your part of the world. It's generally considered a gay-friendly profession, so TG/TS friendly is perhaps not much more of a stretch? Just don't get your hair cut if you are considering extensions. The more you have, the better it can be added. Again, note, I am not talking about adding length, just fullness. The TG lady who works in my local supermarket has a bald spot. I feel for her. Then again she has a musician boyfriend and is very happy. Bitch.

Ibs, looking good m'dear!
Get your hairdresser to layer your hair, that will help give it a litle more body and look less thin and flyaway. Or, as Sundae suggested, investigate hair extensions.

From what I know, layering will make your hair seem thinner. People with fine hair should stick with blunt or very light layering.

Yeah, I wouldn't layer fine hair like Ib has.

It's also worthwhile to keep in mind that you don't have to have long hair to look feminine.

Here are a couple to think about. If I were you, I wouldn't go for anything with wispy ends, or at least maybe just around the face. The thing with most women's cuts is to try to frame the face and bring out the good features rather than to simply get the hair off your face. Think about what features you want to enhance eg. jaw line, eyes, lips etc, and then look at styles that do those things. If you can find a good stylist, he/she should be able to make suggestions on how you would go about doing that.
It's important to note also that all these women have heaps of product in their hair. They don't just wake up with their hair looking like that. Most styles do need product unless you're really lucky to find the perfect cut that you like and which makes you look good.

I sorta do. Until I pass better with longer hair, it's at least a small marker that says "hey don't call me 'sir". Honestly I'd rather just have a rachel maddow cut or something similarly short and tomboyish, but as it stands now that would only make me look more masculine.

I don't think it would Ibs. Done right a shorter style will be feminzing.

Yeah, I agree with Dana. There are plenty of men with long hair these days, especially wispy/shaggy long hair. It will be so much more effective to rely on other markers like notably styled hair, light makeup, and shaped eyebrows.
I know you've still got a fear about just walking into a styling/waxing salon. But women do that. You'll need to embrace it. Perhaps instead of a large multi-chair salon, you should look for an independent stylist with their own shop. More expensive, but it will be private and the stylist will be more skilled as well. |

It's not so much a fear as a hesitation, exacerbated by laziness.
It's on the list of things I need to do. Along with finding a job, and a doctor, and a shrink, and uh FRIENDS, and... yeah. It's less fear of that specifically and more, leaving my room is intimidating.

So I won't suggest you just do it. Keep the advice bookmarked in your head for when it's less of a stress trigger though. FTR I have very very fine hair and I have it layered to create the impression of body. But I have a lot of hair. It won't do anything of its own accord but the layers make it easier to wrangle into a semblance of life. Unless layering means something different over here.
