It's a lovely thread and TIME HAS PROVEN that I was absolutely fuckin' right about every single thing I said in it!!

Not to be, like, too boastful about it, or full of myself, or anything.
Isn't your goal to be mostly wrong? Fucking braggart.

Define "shitty".

I purchased my DSL from Bellsouth in 2005 (B4 Bellsouth was purchased by AT&T), and it's still going strong.

The highest available speed in my area from my ISP is 1.5Mbps for 35 bucks a month. Sufficient for my needs.

That's 1.5 Mega Bytes, Comcast is talking Mega Bits, big difference.

Mbps means Megabits per second.
Source: http://www.attinternetservice.com/re.../mbps-vs-mbps/

Didn't you notice I posted 1.5bps, NOT 1.5MBps?

So your ISP charges about $22 for each Mbps.

Our ISP charges $90.12 for 50 Mbps (that includes all taxes and a laundry list of fees.) That works out to about $1.80 for each Mbps. It also includes phone service, but no TV.

Your ISP charges about 12 times more.

Rural areas are getting screwed by not having fiber.

When did I say I had fiber-optic? Also, what equation did you use to get your numbers?

Actually, I failed to take into account AT&T's annual increases for my bill. The current monthly charge for my DSL is $44.00.

He didn't say you have fiber, he said you're getting raped by not having fiber.
I have fiber and 80 MEGABYTES per second.

You mean megabits, which is the data transfer rate. Megabytes per second is how much data is downloaded per megabit.

No, I mean megabytes, which is the normal measurement in data transfer.

What are your results at speedtest.net?

I just checked my speed, and I got:

Name: 5601955185.png
Views: 134
Size: 31.5 KB

Remember, Mb/s (a.k.a Mbps) = Megabits per second.

I'm willing to bet that your result will also be in Mb/s, not MB/s.

And the phone service is added to that $44? What is the total you write on the check for DSL and all phone charges?
