It seems most of the coverage (in the US, at least) is of the US and Brazil. I wonder if there's a contractual obligation to show the home country more.

I prefer watching the odd-ball events - badminton, table tennis, team handball, archery. Those kinds of things. Chicks wrestling. Yes, chicks wrestling

NBC paid $4.4 Billion to the IOC to televise the games. They feed other countries and choose what will bring the best ratings here.
