				pwetty flowers!

I've been avoiding shooting anything recently because now I've had the opportunity to play with pro gear, my crappy little nikon just pisses me off. At any rate I got sick of waiting for my new gear to arrive (Canon EOS 1D MarkII) and got bored, so I took a few pics of flowers. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (edit: 6 is now 6)

4/7 looks like it was raped by a gang of bees. Nice pics, Jag.

noone has anything negative to say? Where's the cellar I know and love.... I like 5, but I think that's because it took me 15 tries wondering why the hell it was burnt to hell before I realsed the ISO was still set at 400. Poor AF on the little nikon couldn't copy with the stamens very well even on spot mode, in certer weighted it failed mierably. Still I'm quite impressed with the little things closest focussing distance, it's better than I though. A Macro 180 F/3.5 should do a better job. The garden is full of lizards but I need the D1MII without the shutter lag for those. Oh and for the record none of these have even been opened in photoshop.

I like the dandilion- it could be cropped in a bit more, but I like that its not symetrical, centered on the green field. The tulip images- I like the really closeups, when the background disappears- (very Georgia Okeeffe) The ones with green and selected cropped edges- the lip of the flower to the edge.. dont looked as intentional, more snapshotty. Great color, can you play a bit more with the depth of field? like get a bit more definition behind the macro zoomy dandilion? I really know very little about the equiptment. But will fling visual opinions with abandon. |

The lip to the edge was intentional but I was doing this sans tripod, the bigger issue though is the little nikon4300 has very, very few manual settings making precise control impossible, including depth of field, it needs to be a little longer for some shots and shorter for others. Sooooooooo cannot wait till decent gear arrives. With the dandelion I'm not sure if the one in-focus blade helps the composition or not to be honest, I might go back and play with a few of these in photoshop cropping wise and see what comes out.

Why thankyou =) Now, time to wait for the good gear to arrive and then it's time to really get going.

LISTER: What's going on? KRYTEN: Listen! Can anyone hear anything? Pause. There is silence. CAT: No. KRYTEN: Precisely. No one can hear anything! And you know WHY we can't hear anything? RIMMER: Why? KRYTEN: (In the Voice Of Doom) Because there are NO sounds to hear.

Is that an obscure way to make a compliment or is that a jibe I'm somehow missing?
