Nah, it was last week that sucked. This week is looking up.

Mrs. Glatt had all her skin cancer removed yesterday, and is a little underwhelmed with how long a Tylenol lasts before it wears off, but is otherwise in great shape. I haven't seen the wound yet because it's covered, but she says it looks just like a third eye on her forehead winking at you with the stitches acting as eyelashes. I feel bad for her because you can see in her face that she's in some pain, but hopefully that will be better and better each passing hour.

I finally got a cleaning crew coming in to my cousin's house tomorrow. That shithole is getting cleaned up! This means the in-home aide will come back. I'm taking him to a lawyer on Thursday to get power of attorney so I can actually get some stuff done for him. Things are happening.

Work is back to a normal pace.

Kids are off in Maine for a couple more days, so there is no teenage emotional drama in the house.

It's all back to being good.

The week started off great when I realized there was no scout meeting scheduled for that Monday night. An unexpected free evening!

And my cold sore is getting way better. Still several more days before it disappears, but it's on the right path.

I'll bet worrying about her appearance when it's done, and of course the specter it returning, are weighing her down Too. Without the constant demands of the kids to distract her, you'll have to fill in. Dance naked on the table if you have to, whatever it takes.

Tylenol? Pffft! Ask Cosby for some Quaaludes. Oh... and fuck cancer.

Dropped my truck off for inspection this morning and the woman that owns the garage gave me a ride home. It's less than two miles and she had the A/C on. When I got out I didn't get two steps before my glasses were so fogged up I had to take them off to walk to the house.

She texted me and said she feels better today than she did last night, so it's good she's improving. I think they tugged the shit out of her skin around the side of the wound in order to get it to stretch a bit and be able to close up when they stitched it together. Surgery is kind of brutal when you think about it. But anyway, she's feeling slightly better.

Re: your fogged up glasses, it occurred to me this morning as I was walking to the metro that it really is Summer now. We're actually in July. This isn't just some little heat wave that will pass. It's not even all that bad, but it won't be comfortable again until September.

Does comfortable equal dry? FIVE thunderstorms in SIX days. So tired of this part of the world.

And yes, under the weather is exactly how I feel.
Have had more than one crying jag since I got back here on Friday night.

Glad that things seem to be correcting themselves elsewhere.

How's her sense of humor/self mockery index? Would she be cheered up by a bunch of photoshoped scar hiding tattoo suggestions?

Sometimes the head-on approach works wonders.

I never know. She's often pretty good with the self mockery, but sometimes not.

Well, considering she was trying to hide her condition from the kids, and only relented when "Cancer surgery center" showed up on caller ID and they started to get worried, and she also didn't tell any of the family at the recent 4th of July get together, I think she's trying to keep this thing private.

Not very realistic though, since it's right on her forehead and will take some time to heal. I don't think she's planning to hide for a few weeks.
