She's very graceful, isn't she. I noted just on the last landing shot that the winglets/tips are practically absent. Clearly not an oversight. I wonder what it is about the shape of that wing that makes it just as effective without the winglets that I see in many other jetliners of that (approximate) scale.

They found the blended winglets gave less vortices drag, hence better mileage, than the other designs. Also strangely enough, appearance of the upright wing tips made some people uncomfortable. Maybe Peter Benchley's fault.
