When Peter was in Bradford there were multiple disruptions of the Female Student Association (or similar name) by the Rugby Club. They were apparently making a point because men were disallowed. Oh and there was a furore when female students were offered free personal alarms (know generically as rape alarms.)
I'm pretty sure things have moved on from then. I hope so. Personally I always carried my (free from the NHS) alarm when I walked through Viccy Park after dark in Leicester. Against robbery, not sexual assualt. These days I cut the corner of the Vale Park while it's still dark in the mornings. I have Lola's flashlight so I don't fall over and my whistle from when I supervised playtimes. And nothing of value anyway.
