I read a couple articles about this. It's completely fucked up. The principal is even saying she's a good kid who was doing a science experiment. These zero tolerance policies are really a bad idea.

They are charging her as an adult. If this doesn't get fixed before it gets out of control, it will fuck up her life.

This exactly the kind of stupid shit I was talking about.

If that kid gets any charge at all, the teacher should be charged, too, as well as the Principal, and the Superintendent.

And, just personally speaking, if I were the parents of the kid, I would take out a second mortgage to hire a gaggle of lawyers and sue every single person that I could, for allowing those dangerous chemicals in that school, for allowing my child access to those substances, and for just generally being fucking idiots.

I categorically disagree. Look how effective the zero tolerance policies were during the war on drugs, and the prohibition on bringing guns to school.
