I think Americans in general are certainly hyper-sensitive to terrorist attacks, foreign and domestic. However, we're also of the mindset that, "Hey, fuck you! You don't try and fuck with my parade! Now we're gonna make an even bigger parade...and walk around naked too!"

How would you protect from massacres when massacres (by Timothy McViegh, Terry Nichols and Michael Fortier, by Harris and Klebold, by Eric Rudolph, and by Adam and Nancy Lanza) were conducted or assisted only by American citizens. Most 'so called' terrorism is by American citizens. And still some just know it must have been that Saudi because he looks different; therefore must be evil. Immediately after Oklahoma City, everyone was looking for Arabs because emotion (rather than what adults use) justified the reasoning. Who are the most likely suspects? American citizens. Especially in a country where opinion based in no facts (also called hate) publicly says, "we want America to fail". Hate promoted by extremism inspires the most dangerous suspects - American citizens. Where did Eric Rudolph get money and support while 'living in the woods for five years without any job'? Where did he get the 250 pounds of dynamite that he had stashed in NC woods? Oh. An evil Saddam or Santa Claus (another foreigner) must have provided it. Nonsense. The greatest threat to Americans are American citizens. Who, in great numbers, even praised Rudolph for the Altanta Olympics bombing. Greatest threat is an American citizen brainwashed by extremists rhetoric. Who only believe the first thing he is told. Who still thinks like a child. |

It easier to bomb those who are a threat to no one. We attacked Saddam. Use the same reasoning. Bomb the North Pole. Santa Claus is a threat to no one. And does not have nukes.

Oh. Wait. We don't have a president who is destroying the economy. And needs a war to increase his popularity. Never mind. |

Is it coincidental that a lot of legs were destroyed to the point of amputation? Or, do bombings usually involve a lot of people losing legs?

I'm most struck by the idea of so many people being turned so abruptly from marathon fans and/or runners into amputees. |

I was talking to one of my friends who used to run the Boston marathon and he told me that one of his friends finished about two minutes before the explosion...

This is a terrible thing to have happened. It hit home for me because i have a cousin who lives in Boston with his family. My first reaction was to worry about their safety, then my rational mind reminded me that for one thing, neither he nor his wife are runners, and with two small kids, it's highly unlikely that they'd have spectating. We here still haven't been able to get through, but we're assuming that no news is good news simply because if they'd been harmed in any way, they would have called home.

			It's just shocking.

Just a couple of thoughts ...

Bastards, whoever they were. But let's actually investigate rather than jumping to conclusions. They could have killed a lot more people, and caused a bigger panic, if they had bombed the start of the Marathon, not the finish. Not meaning to belittle the experiences of those affected, but Monday in Iraq saw a bombing wave that killed 55 and wounded several hundred. It was the deadliest day in almost a month. The Boston bombings are something your society can surely survive. So, like, be chill, America, act all cool and stuff, don't play this up too much, but, like, still nail whoever did it.
