I don't even remember what it was that sent me off looking at The New Statesman clips on the toob, but anyways, whilst I was doing so I came across this little gem. Seems strangely relevant today given it is from the 1980s.

Alan B'stard MP (the New Statesman of the title) has gone to give a speech at his old school. For reasons I cannot recall he is high as a kite at this point. I think having accidentally smoked something vicious. And so the speech is not only inappropriate for a school audience, but also uncharacteristically honest:
