Higher, and Higher, Education
In "The Corporatization of Higher Education", he talks about the direction of the institutions of higher education.

Thank you for posting this since it brings a lot pieces together for me. Most students blame the rising costs of university on greedy administrations, but it always seemed that the rising cost was just a reaction to a larger problem. I never saw it as a "corporatization" but it makes a lot of sense now and explains everything that I've been seeing.
Universities are turning into all-inclusive resorts, and the bill reflects that change as well.

Your education is what you make of it. I have more respect for someone who reads a thousand books and researches things on their own than for those who attend a pricey college and whine about it.
You can also blame for-profits for corporatization. There is where you can pay a lot of money and get very little in the way of 'education.' I'm proud of my liberal arts education because I learned so much. Sometimes without even meaning to. ![]() Different strokes for different folks: but keep in mind that buyer beware...and huge promises with little return IS noticed and fought against, while walking that tight rope of not messing with free enterprise. |

The longer I'm in college the less I see a value to it

I sent my son off to college and now he's a rabid Republican and Christian. He even has short hair and his pants stay up.
I'm so ashamed.
