GTG Idea

Well, it looks like we are headed towards one of the most inflammatory elections in recent history. People are absolutely livid over some of the issues. Betrayal, denial, cultural warfare - in other words politics .

So to paraphrase Dionne Warwick, "What the world needs now is - BUMPER STICKERS".

I just got a nice deal on the cartridges for my Xyron 510. So, if we have a GTG, I will bring it along and let any Cellarites turn up to 3 strips of paper (max 5" tall) into bumper stickers. There is no real limit on length but lets try to be reasonable. Everyone gets one, then seconds, then thirds.

I have the repositionable kind which should be easy to remove or permanent which might require a razor blade to remove.

No censorship, everyones opinions welcome. The service is free, although I won't turn away donations. I got the cartridges for $3 each, but they will cost $12-15 to replace.

You bring the pre-printed strip and I'll turn it into a bumper sticker. Or bring crayons and go for that unpolished look.

Why fume silently when you can let the world know how you feel?

I work near the Exton Mall and live near Chadds Ford. There are a lot of restaurants on 202 just off of I-95.

I have enough cartridges for 60 feet of repositionable stickers and 45 feet of permanent stickers. The stickers all have laminate on the non-stick side so they will probably last outdoors for about a year.

Let freedom ring!

Richlevy -- how did you do the laminate? I've had a hell of a time getting my stickers to be weatherproof.

They have boxes of the cartridges (or they did Wednesday afternoon) at the Michaels in King of Prussia (Valley Forge Shopping Center, just down from the Bed, Bath, and Beyond store).

I can't be there, but if someone did a "Do I Look Like a Fucking People Person To You?" I'd be grateful. You don't even have to giveit to me.

You can flip the item face down so the adhesive side gets put on the face.

Ideally, you should use adhesive-only cartridges for that since you don't need the laminate, but I have plenty of 15 foot adhesive/laminate cartridges and only the small 'sample' adhesive-only cartridge that came with the 'kit' that I had to buy because Michaels didn't sell the ()*&)(*& machine by itself.

The adhesive is only slightly opaque and the laminate is clear, so if you make a sign on clear plastic it would work as a window sticker.

I'm keeping the sample cartridges, which include laminate/magnet laminate/perm adhesive, and adhesive-only to myself. I use the Adhesive-only for photos.

Xyron 510 Page

If we do this, I'll use Michaels %40 off coupons to restock and hope that they don't put the item on sale because the coupons do not apply to sale items.

BTW, bring extra copies of your work in case something goes wrong with the machine.

The cartridges available for the machine are:

Acid-Free Permanent Adhesive
Acid-Free Repositionable Adhesive
Laminate/Permanent Adhesive Combination
Laminate/Repositionable Adhesive Combination
Two-Sided Laminate
Laminate/Magnet Combination

If you want to go to Michaels and buy your own cartridge and bring it, you are welcome to use the machine. Cartridges are $18-25 and Michaels usally has the %40 off coupons available. So you could print out 15 feet of 5 inch bumper stickers or 30 feet of 2 1/2 inch bumper stickers for about $11.

BTW, if anyone has a sheet cutter, please bring it so that people can split or trim the stickers if they don't want 5 inch strips.

Hey Cougar!

The wedding went great, very beauiful complete with dancers fireworks, singers, etc. Actually that was the reception. The actual wedding was strange to me since I expected there to be someone officiating it. I expected a priest, a rabbi, a buddhist monk, or something like that. Their customs are different.

I had to get some gifts put them in special containers covered with this red velvet material, go to her parents house, pray to their dead ancestors, present the gifts, pour tea for the parents, and they told me I was married. The government of Vietnam even issued me a marriage license for it.

I've got some amazing photos but haven't had access to a scanner yet so I can't post them. But when I do I'll make a special thread for it. Man she's beautiful.

Getting on the plane home without my wife was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Knowing I won't see her for roughly a year sucks ass.

Anyway I don't want to hijack this thread so let's get back to the funny bumper stickers. I still think "LICK BUSH IN 2004" would be popular, especially among those getting gay marriages. Well at least among half of them.

A traditional vietnamese wedding? So you had like 500 people at the reception right? Been to a few of those gigs, food always sucks.

We got better food and had less people. Went to a 5 star restaurant and only had about 220 people.
