UT, if you want a little gig, you are welcome to help me with my network. It needs a professional touch.

I know you think you're hot and all....
but it's not the heat. It's the humidity.

Sorry Infi and UT but yesterday was final site clean-up and pack out of all tools.
and not to put too fine a point on it, but you got your job descriptions reversed. I will keep both of you in mind for future projects. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It's got a sweet little porch railing on it now, I need to go back and take a set of final images. The kids moved in already and have set up the interior kind of nicely.

Nice! I like the detail of the rafter tails under the roof overhang.
I see electrical, but no plumbing. Is there plumbing? What's the purpose of this structure? It looks kind of like a bunkhouse. Is it heated/insulated? |

Thanks.
There is plumbing, the photos are before the plumbing went in. It's a 3 season bunk house and crew kitchen. It has R10 walls and is so small it could probably work through the winter, but most of the plumbing is exposed, so you'd have to deal with heating and insulating that. When I go back, I'll take some detail shots.

I love construction photos. What was your contribution here? Besides photographer that is? Did everyone do everything? Were you the designated painter? Framer? Finish carpenter? .... Were you Gunga Din with a dustpan (minus the sore throat, not that there's anything wrong with that)?

Do you own that scaffolding, or did you rent it? How about all the other tools? I imagine you have quite the collection, but that doesn't necessarily mean you have everything you need to build a house.
Did you have helpers with the framing? Or did you use jacks to lift the walls? I am fascinated by the tricks people use to work alone. There's actually a book out there called Working Alone and it's full of little tips and tricks the author uses to do stuff by himself safely. Lots of clamps get used to temporarily hold the other end of stuff. |

I own the scaffolding. I bought it after renting it for a few months. It's amazing what a difference it makes.
I had a friend work with me on the framing and roofing. I pretty much own anything needed to build, plumb, and wire a house. I haven't rented a tool in a long time. I did borrow a couple of tools for this job since mine were in for repair.

How much to completely replace t1-11 siding on a 2200 sq ft home? And build a second-story deck?

OK. Back to those rafter tails.
How you do that? You have to notch them for the top plate, and then put the decorative touch on the end. They appear to all be identical. Did you use a router and jig for each? Jig saw? Coping saw? ![]() |
