OMG that is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. You try 'to'.
In a meeting last week I suggested that they change "are you planning on enrolling fall semester" to "are you planning to enroll fall semester" or something similar, can't remember exactly but it was between 'planning on enrolling' and 'planning to enroll.' They all groaned because they had spent SO MUCH TIME on the document. I said it just doesn't sound right to me. (Sounds stupid, really.) Later one of them showed me a document from the registration dept that said it the same way I said it should be said. |
