'Twas a happy T-day indeed.

Turkey breast for just the two of us, two kinds of stuffing because I insisted (second batch came out pretty wet; rather too much broth I reckon) of cornbread and sage-&-bread, salad, fresh green beans cooked waterless with slivered almonds, gravy that I eventually reduced to some success but think I need more whole-bird drippings to really get right, rather than starting from chicken stock and roux (successful roux, though); whole cranberry sauce and the jellied too, can-shape and all (and more cans waiting); the pièce de résistance was lemon meringue pie as given in the Most Recent Recipe Thread in Food & Drink, this time with a gingersnap crust in place of a graham-cracker one. The turkey breast might have been the p-d-r if it hadn't come out a bit dry and slightly shrunken. Cook those things covered, it seems, and perhaps from thawed not frozen. Wasn't sure what I had going on. Oh yes, and the garlic mashed potatoes, from scratch -- considerable more garlic next time, lightly sautéed 'em in EVOO, quite good.

Even the black kitties got some turkey breast each.
