I'm watching a show on the Discovery Times channel about the streets in the United States named after Dr. King. In one segment, a group of citizens in Muncie, IN is trying to have a prominent street in town renamed after him. The interviewer is speaking with a business owner who would be affected by the name change.
BO: "If this name change goes through, I will close this place up." Interviewer: "Isn't that a little headstrong?" BO: "Now quit thinking Black." Interviewer: "I AM Black." Heh... |

The fuss was due to the fact that Virginia did not want an MLK day, so when they were forced to do it, they added in some confederate generals to distract from MLK himself.

We don't have one in the City of Philadelphia.
However, I have seen at least two streets named after Dr. King that are fairly decent, in Baltimore and Chicago. |
