Here's a couple of odd place names that don't match the spelling:

Oswaldtwistle - pronounced Ozzle twizzle

Slaithwaite - pronounced slawut by the locals

Mytholmroyd - pronounced mythumroyd

Warwick - pronounced worrick

Loughborough - pronounced luffbra
