I have two older brothers and one younger. I didn't have a sister to share or fight with and I always wondered if I missed out on anything essential. I do find it easier to get along with men than women.
We all get along pretty much, maybe not really close, but no friction either. When we get together it is usually a good time...we love to play games and talk (and drink ![]() We are an older bunch - 55, 53. 49. and 45. No one is really successful, but we are pretty happy working class stiffs, I think. We are all married, but so far, only Andy has children - two sons in college. Neil has a young wife and they just bought a house, so hopefully another niece or nephew to dote over will be in my future. (I'm really hoping for a girl - I mean come on, there's enough boys in this family!) Although I love all three of my brothers, its easier for me to spend time with my younger brother, Neil. |

2of4 here. Two guys, two gals, I'm the oldest male and am entitled to all the rights and privileges pursuant. I guess I'm still waiting on that one.
![]() Older sister is the social one and the organizer of family stuff, which put her in conflict with little sister regarding my Dad's health issues and estate. They seem better of late, older sis is living her suburban dream: soccer, gymnastics, and cocktails with the neighbors. She has Dad in her home about half the time, keeping his meds regulated and running him to doctor appointments. It can a burden, but she does embrace her role. If / when Dad gets worse we're going to have to make sure she lets go. Little sis is an intensely devout Catholic, but hasn't let it interfere with our relationship. At home Mom, great kids, country dweller, and highly disorganized. Her perceptions are sometimes impacted by her emotion based thought processes, which kind of fits her spiritual side. She sometimes leaks anger over things I thought were over but she has been using as some kind of spiritual burden. Little brother was a bit of a world traveler, much more intellectual than the rest of us, a great smoozer, he can match persona to situation better than anyone I know. He is teaching English but has a degree in law. He contracted Lyme's disease and is suffering pretty badly. Married/ no kids. Funny SOB.

Thanks!
I forgot to add that Andy's wife, Isa (who's French - they met while he was studying abroad in Strasbourg his junior year), is my best friend and like the sister I never had. She also has only brothers and no sisters. Last edited by Pico and ME; 08-09-2011 at 07:20 AM. |

I am the youngest of 4 children.
Oldest sister is 9 years older then me, is a French teacher at a private school and close to retirement. Next sister is 7 years my senior. A rea; wanderer, she has never really found her calling, was dyslexic as a child back when it was pretty much ignored as a discipline issue which. Brother is 5 years older and is a potter living in Taipei, Taiwan. |

Older brother, me, younger sister, younger brother.
I love and respect them all, and it's great when we get together every year or two. But we don't really keep in touch in between. They are all smarter than me, and live interesting lives, but they are also a little weirder than I am, which is saying something. Older brother: Fairly successful silicon valley guy. Currently working on secret start up that will be interesting to see if it catches on. I'm skeptical, but also a tightwad, so I could be wrong. His previous endeavors have all be successful. Younger sister: MIT teacher during the year, traveling rock climber during the summer. She and her boyfriend of 15+ years have one of the most solid relationships I've ever seen and they laugh at the idea of getting married. Younger brother: Rocket scientist, turned high school physics teacher, turned expat stay at home dad with crazy home improvement projects. |
