And that is only news to those whose ethics are so low as to think it is even news worthy. Big naked breasts on a Fleet Street rag are equally newsworthy.

Besides, myths were added to the story. They were only kids? It is a rural backwater town? Well tw slept there. Washington also may have. Both are just as newsworthy.

Please. Has the Cellar dropped so low as to give any credence to emotion and gossip? Was she crying? Why don't we know since that too must be important! Show me big tits from Fleet Street. Just as newsworthy.

Thank FSM that it IS news worthy. There are not a lot of people out there who would kill a child as casually as one might swat a mosquito. When some subhuman miscreant actually does such a thing, it's news. And Dana is right. Since when did every post on the Cellar have to lead to some intellectually uplifting discussion?

And since when did a discussion with tommyboy ever lead to that.

@tw - Don't like the thread little man - DON'T POST.

Facts ...
It has a population of about 11,000 - Not exactly a large place.
Its a small town near Scranton. Again - pretty rural compared to a city like Philly.

I agree it is newsworthy in the appalling nature of the act, but I also agree with TW to some degree in that its newsworthiness is largely due to the sensationalism of the act.

Making it much more newsworthy than the millions of children in the US going to bed hungry every night or the fact that a mature and responsible couple cannot adopt and give a loving home to a child in some states if they happen to be the same sex. Issues that if they were discussed more in larger political arenas than the Cellar could result in meaningful actions that would improve the lives of children.

Well, only if Republican lawmakers would base public policy decisions on what might be best for the children rather than invoking or attempting to impose their religious beliefs on the broader public (add) or slash and burn budget cutting.

Or maybe you think proposing to cut the WIC (women, infant, children) supplemental food program by nearly $1 billion will not impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of children.

Or deciding that it's more important to line the pockets of the already rich than for a young couple to feel that they can earn enough to support two children.

Or demanding to defund Planned Parenthood which educates young women on family planning issues.
