well 30 minutes of chat time for no good reason. I ended up going over all the things again, and DLing the latest version of the software and then unplugging and replugging in my mic for the 5th time and now it works again.
Things were down for a day with their super nodes or whatever, this was unrelated. Probably the nut behind the wrench, maybe I stepped on the USB connecting wire and slightly tugged it our of it's gazinta, or maybe I really did need 5.0
