Nanny state? Here's a nanny state!

Quote:
A dad has been reprimanded by council bosses for letting his seven-year-old daughter walk 20 metres alone to catch the bus to school. Isabelle McCullough is a pupil at Normanby-by-Spital Primary School, near Gainsborough, and is picked up by the school bus from the top of the courtyard, where she lives in Glentham.

Quote:
A Scarborough resident has been left devastated after the trees that she saw every day for 11 years were unceremoniously cut down. Council staff who came to hack down the six leafy crab apple trees outside Jose Williams' home in Keld Close, Newby, said they had been told to do so because the falling fruit was dangerous. The council had been contracted to carry out the work on behalf of Yorkshire Coast Homes.

And closer to home...

Quote:
Administrators at Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, Texas, suspended a 16-year-old boy on Tuesday because his eyes were bloodshot and they thought he might have been smoking marijuana. The teen said he was not high. Instead his eyes were red because he had been grieving the loss of his murdered father. Kyler Robertson’s father was stabbed to death on Sunday. His mother honoured his wishes and let him go to school on Tuesday to be with his friends.

Grrrrr

Right. Once you've finally got your sleep or whatever your problem is, read back. I know you won't be embarrassed because you're generally a bit of a dickhead, but you might actually get why Bruce is the only one willing to attempt discourse with you in your current posting state of mind

(and it's spilling into other threads- bbro is a girl, no of course you weren't expected to know, but really, that comment was so drunk posting style .."you're my best mate, you are" -and not your usual style)

Whatever.

Sorry, I just don't give a fuck. Sorry if that offends. It is what it is. If all I get is Bruce responding to my posts I am cool with that....

If no one responds, I am cool with that as well.

I speak the truth as I know it and perceive it. I am open to discourse and conversation that is original thinking and not verbatim propaganda. Are you open to that or just hate my posting style and disagree with me so much that you can't bring you self to have a normal discourse with issues you disagree with me about?

But Merc, it's pretty hard to respond to repetitive postings of "F***" and "See you in Nov."

Look, it has been great to have a discourse with you personally, I just can't do that with everyone on here. So be it.

But I am quite happy to have an exchange of ideas with others with non-like minded thoughts about where this country is headed. It does not mean that I discount or cast off those views as much as that I fully note them.

But please make no mistake that at in someway your sudden out pouring of liberal progressivism is suddenly going to change my views about how fucked up this last 4 years of a Demonractically controlled Congress has totally screwed up this country. And the mantra of "blame Bush" is so overwhelmingly over played, that the scumbags of Congress, regardless of party affiliation, are about to take it in the shorts gives me nothing less than total pleasure. Fuck all of them; throw all of them out; and do away with the two party system. To suddenly proclaim that all of a sudden that the Demoncrats have the corner on the fix to all of our countries ill will by spending more money, and more money, and more bonedoggle bull shit programs is horse shit. Someone needs to put a cap into Pelosi and Reid to get them to stop spending money the public does not have.

A pox on all of those fuckers, regardless of party affiliation. Throw the bums out!

I will vote for a straight party ticket for national office for the first time in my life! Just to put an end to the Socialist agenda of Obama and the Dems!

It is great fun to see everybody's narratives on stuff. It is more fun, Merc, when you write what you just did, a longer ranty post with some gusto, and more details about what your concerns are.

In the past I just did not see the value in doing it.... But there should be no doubt about where I stand.

And Iam not really sure of where that is at this point, other then kicking Pelosi and Reid out of their jobs, or figuring out how to totally fuck up their lives.

I happen to think Merc's right. But if his stuff offends you, don't read it.

I see you finally sobered up/slept. You're a bipolar poster for sure. Do you ever reread what you wrote several hours later? We love discourse and conversation, we know there less than a snowball's chance in hell anything anyone says is going to change your mind. But until this post, you didn't actually write anything coherent/factually correct/relative to anything previous. In the real world.

So let's regress. You referred to this as a "nanny state" thing. But it's not, the article you cite is about control rather than nurturing. that's Big Brother, not nanny. and you're not against nannying, anyway. You've stated previously you interfere in your daughters' lives that way. But you do it to protect them.

Who seems offended? I agreed with his initial assessment too, apart from using the wrong term to describe the state of affairs.
