I've seen the term used (secondhand) in an architecture program to describe what is essentially a 1-2 day brainstorming session.

In the real world, the idea seems to be to bring together everybody who might be involved -- a bunch of developers, planners, politicians, etc -- and flesh out a few ideas, so that everybody is on a similar page.

The origin of the term is related to furious, working-to-the-last-minute efforts.

If I had to use a synonym, I'd go with something between "brainstorming session" and "design exercises."

??? Grow up? This from you? "I'm so much younger than you are na-na-na-na-nar-nar"? (paraphrased from Crimson Ghost Birthday thread)

You don't think the lack of goatse and tubgirl on the site that has every internet meme going done to death is a hint that we don't go there anymore? I know, it's harder to spot unwritten rules -especially when you're a little light on the life experience- but that's one of them.

It wasn't Goatse... it was a picture that has already, on several occasions, been posted on this website.

Now, being so much older than I, shouldn't you see that it's wrong to hijack somebody's thread, when that somebody has already discussed things, with me, via private message, and come to a fair, happy conclusion, without the need for such an assaultive post, as yours?

Since when did age have anything to do with maturity, or, indeed, the phrase "grow up?" Your post, as rude, and offensive as it is, is most certainly proof that age is NOT a factor, when it comes to the utterance of the phrase "grow up."

(Sorry, Cloud, for the public flogging. This is your thread, and does not deserve to be derailed by such a post... However, I felt that, seeing as monster decided to publicly post against something I had said, that, in turn, I had the same right to respond. If you so desire, I'll gladly edit/remove this post, as I did the picture, as I most certainly don't wish to cause you any offence. )

--

As for the original topic... I actually did a little research into the origins of the word. It's quite interesting. The Wiki article that "gvidas" posted, has some of the interesting factoids about it, so, if you've not already, go check it out.

(I love how every word has a history, a second meaning. It makes language so... fun!)

language is fun! okay, for some of us. (nerd!alert!)

and, I'm sure fun was had by the orangutan--just not by me in this particular instance. DVC was a gentleman about it, so as far as I'm concerned, fin.

I love language, in all forms... does that make me a nerd? (Glad to be one, if so!)

Also, I do wonder if the orangutan was actually having fun... it looked mighty uncomfortable.

(I'm glad you can have a little laugh at it, though, and you handled the matter with great decorum, too, which I am very thankful for, as, like I said... I honestly did not intend to offend, I was merely making a comical connection between the pole, and a previous post.)

(Would you like me to edit my previous post? Arguments of such a nature never end well, and there's so little point, to them. Just felt the urge to defend myself against it, is all... but it's not worth it, if it'll just cause a scene.)

Scrap it all and sell it to the Chinese. Manufacture it into kid's rice bowls first if need be.

Nope. An asshole needs to be called one and thread drift is an occupational hazard

I guess people really don't "grow up" with age. Hm, interesting. (Well, some people.)

You're welcome to take this to PM. I shan't sully this thread with further flogging of your poorly conceived attempts at insulting me... If you can come at me with something more age appropriate, or, at least somewhat intelligent, I'll respond, via PM. Your childish attempted assault, though, is only offending my intelligence, and nothing more.

Toxins included?

Good idea - Give 'em a taste of their own damn medicine!

(They can spare the kids, which will, in turn, make their country less over-populated, which will help cut poverty, which will generate a better social feel, which will, in turn, help create a better balanced Government, which will help turn China into a better, more productive, welcome member of the industrial world!)

(So, by killing their children... we'll be doing them a favour? )
