It also has a little of the Thos. Hart Benton look to it as well. MAybe this is from the same time period? 1920's -early 30's

That's the time period I thought - Found the style similar to some used within the "Group of Seven." (Canadian Artists... That would suit the theme, being that my girlfriend is Canadian... and her dad likes being a tricky bugger.) They were primarily landscape artists from the 1920s, too.
