The stings themselves are only painful for a moment. But the next day, I get crazy itchy welts that take a week or two to disappear. We did five reefs, on five separate outings. Probably around 10 hours in the water, so a couple dozen stings is nominal for me. What I really need to do is invest in the proper clothing.
