Wuthering Heights
Just watched it on Netflix. Can't believe I never read it before . . .
Wah. So intense - I am in awe and I can finally understand what everyone's been saying about the dark & brooding Byronic hero Heathcliff. :::sigh::: |

Didn't know there's a movie version. Is it recent?

I live about 20 minutes drive from where it was written
![]() The landscape of the moors is etched into my soul. Both the Yorkshire moors of Wuthering Heights and the Saddleworth Moors that lie outwards of Manchester. I know I am home when I see their stark and unforgiving beauty. The drive across the Pennines from my current home to the town I grew up in has moorland stretching out from both sides of the motorway. Bleak and dangerous. I love them.

It's fairly new, early this year. A PBS Masterpiece Classic. Very good!
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/...hts/index.html Dana, I would so much love to tour the UK one day. Don't know if I'll ever get there, as my husband is dead set against international travel, says there's too much to see here in the US. He's right about there being lots to see, but I still want to go to England. And many other places. |

There is the classic 1939 version, with Merle Oberon and Laurence Olivier. It won an Oscar for best cinematography, and garnered nominations for best actor (Olivier), best supporting actress (Geraldine Fitzgerald), and best director (William Wyler) among a handful of other nominations.

"You know how some movies are released directly to video? This one should have been released directly to Mystery Science Theatre 3000."
