Seriously, it has excellent shock-absorbtion abilities, fills loose space well, and is biodegradable, or even possibly edible.

I bought a big 22 inch Lacie monitor on Ebay a few years ago and when it arrived it was totally smashed. Whoever packed it just set it in the box on the plastic swivel base and put some crumpled paper around it. This monitor must have weighed 50 lbs so the base was not only shattered but the whole casing for the monitor was in pieces.
Luckily it was a company deal and they warranted their products so I got a full refund. |

Popcorn works, although it the package takes a lot of hits, it will tend to break up and compress.
