march madness
we've made it to the sweet 16, and our wagers have made it through the first 2 rounds. this is how the brackets are. our wagered teams are listed in blue. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* midwest Loisville vs Arizona Michigan State vs Kansas *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* in the final four, the midwest winner would face the winner of the west.... *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* west Connecticut vs Purdue Memphis vs Missouri *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* it looks pretty good for michigan state as they prepare to take out last years champions kansas. should they face louisville for a ticket to the final four, they'll be a great debate regarding which team has the greater defence. the teams play a different kind of defence. lousiville's high pressure defence won't get them too far imo. both uconn's match with purdue amd memphis's match with missouri are close calls as purdue is playing at a higher level than most expected, and both memphis and missouri are overated. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* east Pittsburgh vs Xavier Duke vs Villanova *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* in the final four, the winner of the east would face the winner of the south *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* south North Carolina vs Gonzaga Oklahoma vs Syracuse *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* all our picks seem to be on this half of the draw. i don't mind, i just hope its a long shot. one would think that a north carolina vs duke scenario is at hand. i just don't think duke is good enough again this year. pittsburgh should have an easy time against a depleted xavier team. villanova from what i've seen, can take out duke. gonzaga looks like north carolina's biggest challenge yet as they play at a very high level. i think oklahoma is overated and their match-up with syracuse is pretty much up in the air.

i can't believe what i read sometimes from toronto sports writers.
in the sun this morning, this guy is giving a betting tip for the nhl game detroit red wings vs ny islanders. he says that although detroit is resting, they should be able to beat the ny islanders. is this guy stupid or what. if a team is resting, they're not gonna win. ![]() yes, you idiot, i agree that they're resting, and because they are, the betting tip would be to bet on the highest price on a hockey game all year ny islanders. you see, the nhl , at this time is a gold mind for the greatest teams resting, protecting themselves, getting ready for the play-offs. they're playing in the 3rd period and its 2-0 islanders. big game starting now... michigan state[-1.5] - kansas

i can't imagine march madness being any better than it is, heading into the final, four.
35/1 villanova face 7/2 north carolina 26/1 michigan state face uconn michigan state proved to have the greater defence when it counted taking out louisville pretty easily. the champions of last year kansas was their previous victum. villanova was clearly the superior team against pittsburgh despite some disadvantages under the basket. duke proved to be a lot easier of an opponent. north carolina was never gonna be taken out by the inferior sooners, although their next game won't be so easy. uconn is pretty lucky to be here as they managed to get here without really facing a worthy opponent

we're gonna be cashing in on march madness as michigan state just beat uconn 82-73 to make it to the final.
given the fact that we've wagered on both teams in the other semi, we'll have both finalists for a second year in a row. for myself, i look to gain quite the fortune should michigan state win it all, as i've put a substantial amount on the 26/1 shot. Quote:

~*~*~*~MLB~*~*~*~
Tampa Bay Rays @ Boston Red Sox Kazmir - Lester Even though they're playing in Boston, the Rays hold an advantage in this game. Kazmir for one, who is known for his ability to be at the top of his form, very early in the season. Even with BJ Upton out of the line up till next week... Crawford and Longoria are of the absolute elite, while Pena is as powerfull as they get! The Rays bullpen remains strong like last year. Taking a look at the Red Sox line up now, and honestly, if you really know baseball, its not that impressive. The one and only thing that looks freakishly good is their bullpen. Papelbon is purely the elite. Saito is way too good to be 7th-8th inning guy, however, here he is. Okajima can take care of his buisness very well. For this particular game, you've got the Rays true #1, Kazmir, against Lester, who can be hit against. Percival takes care of buisness in the ninth and lets cash in. Bet on the Tampa Bay Rays New York Mets @ Cincinnati Reds Pelfrey - Volquez Its not easy to bet against the Mets. I'm afraid that the Reds might punish Pelfrey. I'm not quite sure if everyone has a good grasp on who Volquez is. Watch how many strike-outs he gets against the Mets today! Bet on the Cincinnati Reds

Kazmir pitched a gem for the rays as they beat boston 7-2, while the mets got the better of the reds 9-7.
St.louis Cardinals vs Pittsburgh Pirates Chris Carpenter - Ross Ohlendorf I strongly doubt that Ohlendorf will be able to take the spotlight away from Carpenter's return. I don't know how many of you understand how good of a pitcher Chris is. Bet on the St.louis Cardinals LA Angels vs Oakland A's Jered Weaver vs Brett Anderson K-Rod is missed, but lets not forget that Shields is more than capable of taking over the closing role while the 8th will be more than covered. Jered is the Angels #2 after the incredible Joe Saunders. Good luck to Brett in his debut. Bet on the LA Angels

Carpenter was amazing today, he got 7 k's in 7 innings, limiting the pirates to just one hit as the cardinals won.
the angels game never started due to the death of angels 22 year old pitcher adenhart. Jered still gets to pitch, although it will be against the red sox.... LA Angels vs Boston Red Sox Jered Weaver - Tim Wakefield I don't care how much control wakefield has of his knuckle-ball. The Angels are gonna have a party running against this guy! Jered is ready, and should get more strike-outs than hits against. Bet on the LA Angels

Both games lost by a run...grrr.
Chicago Cubs @ Milwakee Brewers Dempster - Suppan The Cubs are by far, superior to the Brewers. Dempster is elite. Bet on the Chicago Cubs

that was a nice win for dempster and the cubs to make up for yesturday.
Colorado Rockies vs Chicago Cubs Ubaldo Jimenez - Ted Lilly Jimenez will look to maintain his 0.00 ERA against a very good team. He should at least get the win against Lilly who is mediocre. Bet on the Colorado Rockies Tampa Bay Rays vs NY Yankees Scott Kazmir - Chien Min Wang The clash of the titans here as this battle looks to be the one to watch this season! I'm not underestimating Wang, as I believe that he is a very good pitcher, its just that Kazmir is about as good as they get. Bet on the Tampa Bay Rays

NHL Playoffs
EASTERN CONFERENCE Boston Bruins - Montreal Canadiens Oh my, this again. the tables have turned now as the bruins are the favorites. Montreal skates better and now has a tremendous power-play. The Canadiens will win some games here. Boston is superior and has the edge. I don't believe that this is the opponent they'd pick if they had the choice. Bruins in 7 Washington Capitols - NY Rangers Lundqvist is amazing, but he'll have to stop a lot of shots here against this elite attack. Capitols in 5 New Jersey Devils - Carolina Hurricanes Yeah yeah, whatever. Carolina this and that.... free ticket for this mediocre devils team. Devils in 6 Pittsburgh Penguins -Philadelphia Flyers There are not too many good teams in the east. The Flyers could have advanced against another team, but not here. Penguins in 6 WESTERN CONFERENCE San Jose Sharks - Anaheim Ducks Just like in the east, the top seed has a tough task. Now I called the sharks at the start of the year, but they don't match up to well against the ducks who are in their last year of a cycle. Close one in game 7 Detroit Red Wings - Columbus Blue Jackets Get a grip red wings fans, you're team is not what it used to be. Blue Jackets in 6 Vancouver Canucks - St. Louis Blues This is the most lop-sided series in this first round. Blues in 4 Chicago Blackhawks - Calgary Flames I'm not quite sure if Chicago is there yet, but they will be dominating soon enough. They should outlast this flames team who will have to get down and dirty to compete against this superior team. Blackhawks in 6
