He did have most of the needed arabic speaking actors, including a girl for the main female Iraqi role, but some have dropped out due to their own extensive uni commitments and the girl backed out when she realised it was a computer game. Shame. She'd read the script having misunderstood the purpose of the project; absolutely loved the script (she's from Iraq)then discovered it wasnt a short film as she'd mistakenly believed but a game and she couldn't bring herself to do it. The fact that it's a game made it too trivial for her, I think. That's fair enough, this stuff is likely to be very raw for her.
The game is not offensive. At least, I don't think it is. It doesn't demonize, nor does it excuse. It explores issues around insurgency and occupation.
If you have arabic speaking friends who might be interested, that'd be amazing.
