Resolutions. Hope or pie in sky?

I hope to turn over my 401 keg plan this year. I've had the SOB for years and have had damn small return on my money.
Yes I did pour some on fruit cake this year, but I had a back-up.
Hell I have a few other important thinks on my mind. Suck as learning how to read the instructions for my R/C Helio.
Comes w/3 batteries, takes 8, have none.
I see LJ got one also. Maybe we can PM and save rest of ya the BS. Maybe me being too damn old for that shit.
Well. Nuff BS. I wish all the best in the coming new year.
Save your watermelon seed.

I needed 3 AAA batteries for the remote, and 8 AA for the charging station. the heli has a rechargeable on deck that is fed by the 8 AAs. you load up the charging pad, and plug the heli into that for 20 minutes to get 5 minutes flight time out of it.

i got lucky in our junk drawer and had just enough of both.

I don't think I've ever seriously made a new years resolution that I've kept. Then again, I've never really made a serious NYR either.

I think ongoing good decision making is better than making a couple of resolutions and then failing.

Definitely pie in the sky.

I might swear off pie in the sky for this year. I prefer the kind found on my kitchen counter.

Well I hinted to LJ that we would do this by PM. So it's 2 am here and I never knew why my life wasn't complete till I turned on the TV. How in the hell did I live to be 65 years old with out all these things!!!
I guess in my old age I have lost my sense of priorities.
But back to what I had in mind at start of this thread. I hope I can kick this . Plus learn to fly the r/c thing and finish the $700 buck new computer.

The only resolution I ever kept was my resolution not to make any more resolutions.

I feel great about myself. I am not a failure.

Heh. Good point foot.

While I come off sounding like I'm trying to be oh sooooo noble in my post in the other NYR thread, it's not really that.

I don't know about anyone else, but I can make the obligatory promises to myself and they're really not different than any other day. Yes, I'm going to be less sensitive, yes I'm going to organize my life, yes I'm going to lose 30 pounds...etc and so on.

The thing is, when you promise that you'll do these things, and time goes by and it hasn't actually happened, you might think "man I'm a big suckee failure."

These are things I plan to do, and have taken small steps toward each of these things, but I know that a change in my life takes small steps...me attempting a giant leap and emerging as a superhero with a big S on my chest (for Shawnee, silly) will only result in me feeling big disappointment: "what, it's January 20th and my bedroom closet is STILL a mess?"

However, I don't know that all humans are hard on themselves, but I know I can be.

Though my resolution is simply remembering to be conscious of those who we meet every day, and being kind is something I think I usually am, I remind myself that taking an extra minute or two to make sure I am hopefully making someone's day a little cheerier...well, that's attainable and satisfying.

I'm not really so noble. :p

Here's to all of you, and may all your hopes and dreams come true in 2009. For those of you going through difficult times, my heart goes out to you. Lord knows I've been there. For those whose lives are going well, I wish you continued success and happiness. Every day is a gift, and a chance to laugh, cry, and love.

Happy New Year, Cellar friends.

Shawnee

Hopefully, people will be very focused on the partying tonight, and not start making resolutions until tomorrow morning. Or at least not acting on them until tomorrow morning.

I expect to be telling any number of people tonight that making resolutions is stupid, puts too much pressure on you, etc., etc.
