Actually they remind me of something out of Japanese animation. I could see them as Pokemon. And yes, I do find them quite cute.
Bless them, toiling away, benefiting the sea, minding their own business. Then hauled into an alien environment so they can be photographed and called ugly. Poor babies.

When I saw the rubber gloves holding them, it looked like a surgeon holding human organs - kidneys or really large testicles.
